Music for the Holiday!

We enjoyed a concert by the 4th and 5th grade band and chorus members.  It was fun to sing-a-long with the band. Also, we sang two songs in the Holiday sing-a-long and enjoyed seeing our 3rd grade buddies sing and play the recorders.

How Does Your Engine Run?

We welcomed Mrs. Perkus, our school occupational therapist, to one of our class meetings in December. Mrs. Perkus taught us about a program that is called "How Does Your Engine Run?". We discussed how your body and brain work together to be "just right" for learning and friendship.  We will continue to learn about this self-regulation program and will use the terms "too low, too high or just right" to describe our energy level for readiness to learn and play.

ART

The children have been learning about Native American art and story cloths from Central America.   Each of the students created a part of a a group project that is displayed in the gallery. One day, the students met with Mrs. Bailey in the gallery and searched for repeating shapes and designs in the current display of native american artwork.  Mrs. Bailey and I are planning a series of family art experiences that combine art and geometry.  We look forward to having you join us! I will let you know as soon as the dates and times have been finalized.

K-12 Self-Portrait Exhibit

January 2013

This exhibit includes work created by students from grades K-12 in the Hamilton-Wenham School District. It is being exhibited simultaneously at the District Central Office, the three elementary schools in the district, the middle school, and the high school.

Displaying these self-portraits together allows a unique glimpse at the range of artistic development from kindergarten through high school. This exhibit also invites you to admire the efforts and the images of some of the students that make up our school community.

Thank you for your donations to the Cutler coin drive.  The school raised $344.16 for school supplies in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
